Bangle sizes are written in inches and annas, where 1 anna is 1/16 inch. So 2.4 means 2 and 4/16 inches.

Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh has been the centre of India’s glass bangle craft for generations. Glass is melted, drawn, joined over a flame and finished by hand in workshops across the city.

Melting
Coloured glass is melted in the furnace and drawn into long coils.
Cutting
The coils are cut into rings of the right size.
Joining
Each ring is closed over a small flame to make a seamless bangle.
Finishing
Bangles are polished, decorated with colour, zari or stones, and sorted by size.
